Australian Electrical Industries (AEI) is a leading name in commercial and industrial electrical contracting across Australia. Like many growing businesses, AEI used a range of tools to manage different areas of the business—Simpro for operations, Asana for tasks, Xero for finance, and Excel for ad hoc reporting.
But there was a problem: none of these systems talked to each other.
The Problem: Data in Every Corner, but Nowhere to See It All
As AEI scaled up, so did the complexity of managing their data. Their teams were entering data in multiple systems—but there was no easy way to bring it all together. Management wanted to track KPIs, see project trends, and make decisions based on real insights—not scattered spreadsheets. Without a unified view, everything was reactive. We started by auditing all their systems, mapping how data flowed—or didn’t—across Simpro, Asana, Xero, and Excel. Then, instead of introducing a brand-new software stack, we built something better: a custom Aloka Data Warehouse that centralized everything.
With the warehouse in place, we designed interactive Power BI dashboards to give AEI the insights they needed—from high-level KPIs down to individual job profitability. Because Power BI works seamlessly in the Microsoft ecosystem, internal sharing was simple, and user adoption was fast.
